8 July 1994: I obtain a Bachelor of Arts Degree (LAUREA IN LETTERE) from UNIVERSITY OF FLORENCE 110/110 WITH DISTINCTION. The thesis was published by «QUADERNI DEGLI STUDI DANTESCHI» 12: Pio Rajna, La materia e la forma della "Divina Commedia". I mondi oltraterreni nelle letterature classiche e nelle medievali. By the way I participate in the ERASMUS PROJECT at the ALBERT LUDWIGS – FREIBURG UNIVERSITY I. BR (1993-1994 October-January GERMANY).

POSTGRADUATE  ACTIVITIES

1995 UNIVERSITY OF FLORENCE. I am awarded a research grant for a PHD in «Filologia Dantesca», X cycle OVER THREE YEARS (1996-99) having been placed first (with 113/120) on the classification of merit.
On the 30 March 2000, I obtain the title of “Dottore di ricerca” (PhD) with the presentation of the following dissertation: "Chiose sopra la Comedia di Dante Alleghieri fiorentino tracte da diversi ghiosatori. Critical edition of the LATEST EDITION OF THE “OTTIMO COMMENTO”. Inferno, University of Florence, 1999.  (Manoscritti BA4103 biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, M676 Morgan Library, PA Biblioteca Nazionale di Parigi)

1997- 1998 ALBERT LUDWIGS-UNIVERSITY, FREIBURG IM BREISGAU (GERMANY). I spend a semester at this university as a research fellow.
I follow two three-month language courses at the "SPRACHENKOLLEG FÜR AUSLÄNDER" Mittelstufe I (October-December) and II (January-March)
and the Deutsche als Fremdsprache courses at the University.
7 April 1998 I pass the language exam: DEUTSCHE SPRACHPRÜFUNG FÜR DEN HOCHSCHULZUGANG AUSLÄNDISCHER STUDIENBEWERBER (DSH)
 which is the accepted requirement to gain entry to German universities.

1999 (7 September) UNIVERSITY OF PADUA. I gain the 6 month BORSA DI PERFEZIONAMENTO ALL'ESTERO (GRANT FOR IMPROVEMENT ABROAD)
(I scored highest in the classification with 89/100) This course (NOVEMBER 1999—APRIL 2000) took place at ALBERT LUDWIGS-UNIVERSITY, FREIBURG IM BREISGAU.

2000 (8 June) L’AQUILA. By means of a public competition examination, I gain my secondary school teaching qualification (EQUIVALENT TO UK P.G.C.E) in arts subjects.

2002 (28 May) UNIVERSITY OF L’AQUILA. At the end of this two-year course, I gain the DIPLOMA OF SPECIALISATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHING
at the SSIS (Postgraduate school for secondary school teaching) OF THE UNIVERSITIES OF CHIETI , TERAMO - L’AQUILA, (score 76.5/80) This diploma constitutes a further TEACHING QUALIFICATION FOR THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS: (A043- Arts, A050- Italian and History, A051- Italian and Latin).

January 2004 “CESARE ALFIERI” UNIVERSITY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDIES” in FLORENCE. I completed a MASTER in «EUROPEAN STUDIES».
The subject of the final thesis was “Lifelong Learning”.

2004 IINSTITUTE OF HUMAN SCIENCES IN FLORENCE (ISU, PALAZZO STROZZI, FLORENCE): I take a competition exam for two Post-docs and I was placed third in the classification of merit with 98/100.

2005 INSTITUTE OF HUMAN SCIENCES IN FLORENCE (ISU , PALAZZO STROZZI, FLORENCE). I am accepted onto an other three year PHD (second one) in (ANCIENT, MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE STUDIES) at the above-mentioned institution following a selection procedure by way of qualifications and exams.

At the same time, through means of qualifications held and exams taken, I am awarded a RESEARCH GRANT within the DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY AND POLITICAL CRITICISM  at the University of Teramo.

2005 July INNSBRUCK UNIVERSITY, German language course (Fortgeschrittene BIII) with final examination.

2006 (10 July - 19 August) THE PIERPONT MORGAN LIBRARY (NEW YORK). The ISU in Florence authorises the research trip to the Morgan Library in New York in order to benefit the publication of the critical edition of the latest edition of the so named «Ottimo commento» and to enable me to view the M.676 manuscript in the Morgan Library. The volume is right coming out by Longo Editore(in the Memoria del Tempo collection of Texts, managed by Professor M. Picone of Zurich University).
I attend an English language course at FORDHAM UNIVERSITY in New York.

2007 (Easter Term) FACULTY OF MODERN & MEDIEVAL LANGUAGES (CAMBRIDGE -UK). I was accepted in Downing College, as VISITING PHD Scholar within the ITALIAN DEPARTMENT. At the same time, I attend a course in upper-intermediate English at the ANGLIA RUSKIN UNIVERSITY.

2008/09 (falls Term) NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, visiting Graduate Student and Istructor of Italian In ITALIAN DEPARTMENT of NYU.


PARTICIPATION AT STUDY CONVENTIONS AND SEMINARS

27-31 March 1995: I obtain a grant from the ROMANISCHES SEMINAR AT ZURICH UNIVERSITY to participate in the International Study Convention on “The ancient novel and its medieval reception”, Centro Stefano Franscini, Monte Verità, Ascona.

22-26 August 1995: I participate as a scholarship holder in the International Thirteenth Week of medieval studies on: “Heaven and Earth in the XI-XII centuries Horizons, perceptions, relations”, CULTURAL CENTRE OF THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF MILAN in Passo della Mendola.

11-13 October 1996 (Bonn): As a PhD student I participate in the Jahrestagung of the “DEUTSCHEN DANTE-GESELLSCHAFT”.

23-27 June 1997: I participate, as a scholarship holder, in the International Dantean Seminar “Dante: Myth and poetry” at the Centro Stefano Franscini, Monte Verità, Ascona.

10-12 October 1997 (Dresden): As a PhD student I participate in the Jahrestagung of the “Deutschen Dante-Gesellschaft”.

2006 27-30 July FORDHAM UNIVERSITY (NEW YORK). Alongside carrying out my research work in the Morgan Library and attending the English language course at FORDHAM UNIVERSITY, I participate in the Chaucerian Conference taking place at the FORDHAM UNIVERSITY in New York.

PAPERS GIVEN AT CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS

10 June 1997: (Rome) I contribute to the work for the Seminar organised by the Research fellow in Italian Studies at Rome’s “La Sapienza” University with a report on St.Patrick’s Purgatory published in the Seminar Records: Dante and the locus inferni. Literary creation and interpretative translation by S.Foà and S.Gentili “Italian studies (and texts)”4 (1999), p.p. 53-72.

8 September 1999: I participate in the XXI week “Religious history of Ireland” as a scholarship holder (7-11 September), giving a presentation on Dante and Ireland. (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart)

2005 October: With a research grant from the University of Teramo, I participate in a study day dedicated to Dante’s Monarchy with a PAPER entitled: Dante tra diritto e letteratura (soon to be published by «Forum Italicum» 41/1 (Spring 2007), pg. 5-22.

2006 ISU in Florence. During the Medieval history seminar given by Prof. Franco Cardini as part of the PhD in “Antiquities of the Medieval and Renaissance” (ISU, Palazzo Strozzi, Florence) I highlight the merits of Guerin Meschino and its historical literary position in relation to the Commedia and its ancient comments.

28 September 2007 University of Naples. During the XI ADI (Association of Italian Italianists) convention I give a presentation entitled La dialettica tradizione innovazione: canoni interpretativi e diffrazione esegetica:

7-10 luglio 2008 Leeds. During the International Medieval congress I gave my paper regarding the idea of Justice in Dante and regarding the line "giusti son due e non vi sono intesi".

WORK EXPERIENCE

1997-2000 COLLABORATIONS WITH THE ITALIAN DANTE SOCIETY (SDI) in Florence: In 1997 I assist in the audit of the “FONDO VANDELLI”, in 1998 I collaborate with the Princeton "Dartmouth Dante Project" on checking the electronic version of PORENA’S comment on the Commedia; and once again in 1999-2000 I work on reviewing some transcriptions of riccardiani’s codes of the text of the Commedia as part of the project to build the official portal of the above-mentioned SDI (Italian Dante Society) (http://www.danteonline.it).

1999 (3 March - 3 April) VICTORIA (AUSTRALIA) am member of the GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE Team (GSE) of ROTARY INTERNATIONAL (District 2090 in Pescara). This project, for young professionals, organised various vocational days at the Universities and schools within the state of Victoria with particular focus on THE TROBE UNIVERSITY in Melbourne and MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY.

2000 I collaborate on the «ANTICHI COMMENTI» PROJECT organised by C.N.R (National center for reserch) under the guidance of Prof. F. Mazzoni from the University of Florence.

2002 – 2007 In the same time I work as a teacher in MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS teaching italian litterature, history, etc.

2001-2002 DEPARTMENT OF MODERN AND MEDIEVAL STUDIES AT THE «G. D’ANNUNZIO» ’UNIVERSITY in CHIETI. I have a RESEARCH GRANT for one year for a project on the “STUDIES ON THE TRADITION OF THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE MEDIEVAL DIOCESES OF PENNE" My subject of study was the file of documents from the Chancellery of the Chigi Fund E. VI 182-E VI-188 ( VATICAN APOSTOLIC LIBRARY) and the reconstruction of the documentary tradition from the Cistercense Monastery of Casanova in the Medieval period. On this occasion I collaborated on the writing of a volume dedicated to NICOLA DA GUARDIAGRELE by being responsible for the DOCUMENTARY APPENDIX published in A. CADEI, «Nicola da Guardiagrele; un protagonista dell’autunno del Medioevo in Abruzzo», Guardiagrele, Silvana Editorial, 2005, pg 321-333.

2005-2008 I am awarded a grant to carry out research within the DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY AND POLITICAL CRITICISM of the University of Teramo. Subject of research: “Political Dante”.
